The Dark Place

We're entering the time of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Sunlight and temperature fall, blues go up. I'm not ashamed to admit that I struggle with depression from time to time.

So, a sensible person would prepare accordingly, right? I should be winterizing my psyche, just like winterizing my car. I should buy one of those special happy lamps and watch funny shows. I should pick up some anti-depressents from the doc, maybe call my shrink. I should exercise and, hell, I don't know...go to chucky cheese or something.

But, no, I decide that now is a good time to re-read Red Dragon, an incredibly dark story about a disfigured child who grows up to be a serial killer. And to pick up on Season 6 of the Sopranos, an incredibly dark show about banality and violence and the intransigent shittiness of human nature.

Goddamn...someone send me some Tele-tubbies STAT.
