Stress
I'm pretty busy, and I don't have time for much of a post, but I wanted to put something down to let you know I haven't forgotten about this blog.
I'm no good at stress. I think as a general rule, stress is my primary cause of unhappiness. Times in my life that are relatively stress free tend to be happy times. Stressful times tend to be unhappy times.
That may be kind of obvious, but it becomes more relevant when I pinpoint my particular stressers. As a general class, I'd say that responsibility is my main stresser.
In that sense, this academic route might be good. Other than teaching, you work often work alone. Divesting oneself of responsibility to others has down sides (loneliness, etc), but given the particular makeup of my personality, I think the upsides outweigh the downsides for me.
