Addendum

I want to clarify that pursuit of wealth is a goal that I can respect. Wealth can buy things, and it can buy time, and it can buy security, and it can buy peace of mind. It can buy toys and freedom and health care and college educations. Wealth can fund charities and bankroll political campaigns. Wealth can put on a show, or fund a museum, or be rolled into a tube through which cocaine is snorted.

Pursuing wealth is not a bad career choice, so if I gave it short shrift in the previous post, I was remiss.

Almost all careers attempt some sort of triangulation of these goals.

I don't feel like writing any more.
