The Polis

Ok, at the last minute, I've decided to vote in the primary! This is a completely useless activity that I'm doing completely to avoid irrational guilt. However, this will only paper over the real guilt I feel for being so uninvolved with real life politics. I mean, I get a perfectly nice email at very regular intervals from my school's college democrats, but I never go to the meetings. Nor am I involved with the young democrats in my area (guess i'm not that young anymore anyway). I have very few connections to real-world politics. I am, in short, a gawker. A voyeur. A creepy stalker of political power. A looker-on. A critic. An analyst. A commentator. A fan. I am a politics fanboy.

"Excuse me..(sniffle, fart, push glasses up my nose)...um, excuse me sir, but you DO realize that the responsible parties model assumes a retrospective voting model, do you not?"

"Shut up and make me some coffee, weasel! I have three county fairs to visit today!"

"Yes sir."

Oh ivory tower...I love you when i can wake up at 11:00 and go months without wearing a tie. I hate you when I sit back and ponder my utter inefficacy as a citizen.
