Halfway There
I am presently ensconced in my friend's "townhouse" near Hutchinson, Kansas. I use the quotation marks because I had to take, like, 45 back roads to get here. It's funny...I actually thought he lived in Oklahoma, and had called him before I left cause I thought I might take the more southerly route. I didn't hear from him, so I took good ol' I-70. He called me right after I got through KC, and it turns out he lives in Kansas! I took the slight detour down to Hutchison, but I got to see my friend (whom I haven't seen in years), and I got a free bed. I'm gonna stay here another night, both to maximize my social time and to avoid driving under the Blowing Snow Advisory (which says, "Caution: blowing snow will lead to frozen tongues and will fail to create snow orgasms).
I got here last night after 12 hours on the road. Other than the speeding ticket that I got just east of Kansas City, the trip was quite pleasant. I got a little hung-up in St. Louis, and I basically got lost in Kansas City, but I made it out (BE WARNED...I-70 becomes a toll road west of KC).
Radio and CD fun for this trip:
Bob and Tom
Beck-Odelay
Chris Hartman's Mixed CD of Wonders
Diane Rheam Show
Some talk show about heart disease
Fresh Air
Greg Brown-Slant 6 Mind
All Things Considered
Bottle and Go (my friend's old band)
John Prine-"Youth is a costume, but the beauty inside lies unfurled. And I think that she may be the oldest baby in the world"

Give me a minute! You are having a automobile for your new mexican journey of danger? Well you have fancy plans and pants to match sir! I was thinking you were going on your journey on your feet. You say you are a poor college student. I say you are a rajah opressor in costumes.
Ahh, Vijai. You are my most favorite person ever!
Thank you kindly Mr. Dandy.
